I Was Forced To Clean Faeces!’ – Quadri Reveals Sh*cking Detention After Photo With Peter Obi
Alabi Quadri, the 17-year-old who became nationally recognized after a viral photo showed him alongside Peter Obi’s campaign motorcade during the 2023 elections, has opened up about his traumatic experience in detention at Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In an emotional interview with Channels Television on Monday, Quadri recounted the arrest that turned his life upside down. He revealed that the now-famous photo with Peter Obi appeared to have made him a marked target in his neighborhood, leading to threats against his family.
According to Quadri, he was unaware of any unrest in his community on the day he was arrested. After returning from his job as a motor boy, he was ambushed by local area boys and handed over to the police.
“Ever since that campaign photo went viral, it felt like people were watching me closely,” he said. “One person even threatened my mother, warning that the money they claimed I had received would be divided—or she’d never see me again. They said I’d be kidnapped and taken somewhere unreachable.”
Quadri described being thrown into a police cell with strangers—older men he didn’t know—and later transferred to Kirikiri, where things worsened.
“At the station, I was locked up with men I’d never seen before. I was the youngest in the cell,” he recalled.
His time at Kirikiri was even more harrowing. “Every day, I was forced to clean faeces from morning until 6 p.m. because I couldn’t afford to pay the prison marshall,” he shared.
The Lagos State Police Command claimed Quadri was arrested for allegedly being involved in a public disturbance and robbery. However, his family and numerous supporters insist the arrest was baseless, accusing the authorities of using him as a scapegoat.
After enduring several months behind bars, Quadri finally regained his freedom on April 17, 2025.
