I Was Pushed Out Of APGA!” Peter Obi Opens Up On Why He Dumped PDP
Peter Obi has stated that his political decisions have always been driven by personal conviction and principles rather than political convenience or personal gain....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking during an interview on News Central TV, Obi explained the circumstances surrounding his departure from previous political parties, insisting that his choices were rooted in values and ideology.
According to him, he was compelled to leave the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), while his exit from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was based on principle.
“Some politicians change parties because of principles, while others change their principles because of their parties,” Obi said.
“For me, I changed parties because of what I believe in. Once you find yourself in a system that no longer reflects your values or the kind of politics you want to practice, you have to make a decision.”
He explained that his departure from APGA was not voluntary, while his decision to leave the PDP came after concluding that the political direction of the party no longer aligned with his convictions.
“You cannot claim to be pursuing a noble destination when the process itself has already compromised your principles,” he added.
Meanwhile, the National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has revealed that former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi once threatened to leave the coalition arrangement involving opposition figures.
Speaking during an interview on Symfoni TV, Abdullahi claimed Amaechi became dissatisfied over what he perceived as preferential treatment allegedly being given to Peter Obi within the coalition.
According to him, Amaechi complained that the coalition leadership, particularly the national chairman, appeared to be making too many concessions in Obi’s favour.
“There was a point when Rotimi Amaechi reportedly threatened to walk away from the coalition because he believed Peter Obi was being overly accommodated,” Abdullahi said.
He also disclosed that one of the deputy positions within the coalition structure was filled through Obi’s nomination.
