I’m Still In Charge! – Factional ADC Chairman Denies Viral Resignation Letter
The factional Acting National Chairman and former Deputy National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Nafiu Bala, has firmly denied the authenticity of a viral resignation letter attributed to him.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement released on Friday, Bala described the letter—dated May 18, 2025, and allegedly bearing his signature—as a forgery, calling it misleading and the handiwork of mischief-makers.
It will be recalled that the David Mark-led faction of the ADC had earlier invalidated Bala’s leadership claim and circulated what it claimed was his resignation letter as Deputy National Chairman, dated May 17, 2025. The letter allegedly indicated that Bala had stepped down effective May 26, 2025, in a bid to support coalition and restructuring efforts.
The document, titled “Letter of Resignation as Deputy National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC),” was reportedly addressed to the party’s national chairman at its headquarters in Garki, Abuja.
However, Bala dismissed the document as fake, insisting it was crafted by “mischievous elements” inside and outside the party who are intent on creating confusion and instability.
He stressed that the ADC Constitution mandates that any aspirant for a leadership position must be a financial member of the party for at least one year—a rule that, according to him, remains unchanged.
Bala also referenced his predecessor, Chief Ralph Nwosu, who, during a public address at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, confirmed Bala’s continued role within the party. Nwosu had explicitly stated, “Nafiu Bala did not resign as the Deputy National Chairman,” directly contradicting the content of the controversial letter.
He added, “All my official correspondence is issued on the party’s letterhead with the ADC’s emblem. The so-called resignation letter was printed on plain paper with no official insignia—an obvious sign of forgery.”
Reaffirming the party’s constitutional guidelines, Bala reiterated that leadership aspirants must be dues-paying members for no less than 12 months.
Finally, he urged ADC members, supporters, and the general public to remain alert and not fall for attempts to sabotage the party’s unity and structure. Bala reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the values of the ADC and its goal of a united, progressive Nigeria.
