The state’s party chairman, Callistus Ihejiagwa, made these assertions during a press briefing in Owerri.

Although INEC had identified 38 zero polling units in the state where elections were not anticipated to occur, Ihejiagwa alleged that these areas were affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC). He claimed that the commission was under pressure to conduct the election in those specific units.

The chairman noted that it would contravene the Electoral Act for INEC to proceed with elections in these regions.

“We have reliable information suggesting that, contrary to the regulations in the Electoral Act and electoral guidelines, the APC in conjunction with INEC has finalized plans to hold elections in locations not designated by INEC and at volatile points in Orsu and certain areas of Orlu LGAs.”
