It’s Not About Service, It’s About Selfish Gains – Soludo Blasts November Gov Poll Rivals
Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has dismissed the strength of his opponents in the upcoming November 8 governorship election, insisting that most of them are only seeking appointments and cheap popularity rather than genuinely contesting for office.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Soludo, who is running for a second term under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), made the comments on Saturday at the Chuba Ikpeazu Sports Complex, Onitsha, during a rally organised by the Anambra State Market Amalgamated Traders Association, where traders openly endorsed his re-election bid.
Speaking to the massive crowd of traders and market leaders, the governor declared that the poll would be taken seriously despite his confidence that he has “no real opponents.”
“The journey to November 8 is still far, and we will not take it for granted. Though we have no serious contestants, we are entering the election with full commitment. Every other aspirant is merely looking for an appointment. Instead of admitting what they want, they pretend to be contesting,” Soludo said.
He went further to describe his rivals as “unqualified,” stressing that Anambra would never again be ruled by “charlatans.”
“Our opponents don’t even have the certificates. This is the state of Nnamdi Azikiwe, Chinua Achebe, and Alex Ekwueme. Unknown characters will not be allowed to govern Anambra again. Let them return to their land-grabbing businesses instead of parading as candidates,” he added.
The governor also promised traders a new tax regime where no one would be compelled to pay cash, assuring them of better systems under his administration.
Appreciating the people for their support in the just-concluded August 16 by-elections—where APGA candidates secured victories—Soludo said the outcome reaffirmed the dominance of APGA in Anambra politics.
“That election became a national contest between leadership by competence and leadership by sympathy. Some people were ready to write results and called it a mock election ahead of November, but they lost in their wards and polling units. APGA is our address. APGA is Anambra, and Anambra is APGA,” he declared.
