Tinubu’s call for an end to the protests follows appeals from prominent figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, who have urged the government to address the protesters’ demands.

In his address at 7 a.m. on Sunday, President Tinubu expressed sorrow over the violence and chaos that have erupted in several states, including Borno, Jigawa, Kano, and Kaduna. He condemned the loss of lives, the destruction of public facilities, and the looting of shops, which contradicted the organizers’ promises of a peaceful demonstration.

The President called on protesters and organizers to suspend their activities and engage in dialogue, stressing that Nigeria needs collective effort to overcome challenges. He warned against ethnic bigotry and threats, affirming that the law will hold accountable those who attempt to exploit the situation for divisive purposes.
