Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has attributed the recent #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests to external influences, noting the involvement of children aged 9-14 who were seen waving foreign flags. Sani suggested that the protests were orchestrated to incite chaos, leveraging the psychological influence on children and exploiting regional connections with neighboring countries like Niger Republic. He criticized the notion that the protests were solely about governance or economic hardship, arguing that initial genuine protests had been overtaken by factions using uneducated, underage children.
He praised the security forces for their restraint, highlighting that they allowed children to climb on police vehicles without resorting to force. Sani assured that an investigation is underway, emphasizing that the situation is being handled professionally.
He stated, “An investigation is ongoing. It’s unfortunate that innocent people are now affected by the curfew, preventing them from earning a living. The involvement of children as young as nine, ten, and fourteen, waving flags of other countries, indicates that this was a well-planned effort by elements seeking to create disorder in Nigeria.”
Sani continued, “The protesters were not genuinely concerned with bad governance or hunger. Instead, they were used by individuals who exploited the lack of education and the age of these children. I commend the security agencies for their professionalism, as seen in their handling of the situation without excessive force. We are committed to investigating this matter thoroughly.
