Moreover, the budget for remodeling the Government House structure was set at N962 million, yet the state spent N2.2 billion within nine months.

The review highlights ongoing budget overruns across various projects. For instance, N50 million was allocated for renovations of the Speaker and honorable members’ residential quarters, but N58.7 million was spent. Similarly, renovations for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker’s lodge had a budget of N50 million, but N52 million was spent.

The maintenance budget for the Secretary to the State Government’s residence was N10 million, while actual expenditures reached N13.8 million. The construction of a mosque and chapel in the Government House was budgeted at N25 million, but the state spent N86.4 million. Additionally, N13 million was spent on government house projects despite no budget allocation for them.

This spending trend occurs amid calls for better financial management of government resources, which critics argue are being poorly allocated. While the government has prioritized its own facilities, only N235.7 million has been spent on the rehabilitation of hospitals and health centers, and N415 million on water facility repairs.
