Prof. Shehu Adaramaja, the chairman of the government’s committee responsible for managing the students’ palliative fund, made this announcement in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Adaramaja explained that the disbursement process, which commenced on Monday, followed an extensive screening procedure that spanned several weeks.
He further clarified that each eligible student received a palliative fund of N10,000, which was directly deposited into their bank accounts to help alleviate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal.
“The distribution of this palliative fund underscores the government’s dedication to the welfare and well-being of its students. By providing this financial assistance, the governor is expressing empathy for both students and parents who require support during this time,” Adaramaja remarked.
He emphasized that the funds were transferred directly to the students’ bank accounts, ensuring a transparent and efficient allocation process. Special care was taken to ensure that students from diverse academic backgrounds and institutions benefited from this assistance, catering to the needs of deserving students from 140 higher education institutions nationwide.
As a reminder, an online platform was established several weeks ago to enable eligible students to register and provide necessary information, including their bank account details.
