Ogah made this disclosure in response to the viral claims on social media regarding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s alleged forgery of a Chicago State University (CSU) certificate.

Speaking to journalists over the weekend in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State, Ogah stated, “We at the National Assembly will soon enact a law on fake news essentially to control social media as it is in other countries.

And that is to say that whatever people say or write will be regulated. You don’t sit in your room and post whatever you think to write.”

He went on to express his view that those calling for President Tinubu’s resignation are motivated by hatred and lack factual basis for their claims.

He emphasized the importance of adhering to Nigeria’s rules and constitution, stating that people should not believe everything posted on social media.

It’s worth noting that Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 presidential election, is contesting the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration of Tinubu as the winner of the February 25th poll.
