LP Candidate Raises Concerns As Police Officers Accused Of Kidnapping Remain At Large In Rivers....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

A candidate for the Delta State House of Assembly, Harrison Gwamnishu, has claimed that three officers from the Rivers State Police Command, accused of kidnapping a man, have yet to face prosecution. The implicated officers, identified as ASP Doubara Edonyabo, ASP Talent Mungo, and Inspector Odey Michael, allegedly abducted a man in Aba, Abia State, taking him to Bayelsa State and later to Ughelli in Delta State, where they reportedly extorted 3000 USDT equivalent to N 4,200,000.00 from him, according to a police statement……..CONTINUE READING

Although an investigation into the incident was initiated by the command, and the extorted money was returned to the victim on January 18, Gwamnishu, who initially raised the alarm, claimed in a recent post that the officers were still at large and seemingly immune from dismissal due to their senior ranks within the police force.

“On the 18th of January, my team and I apprehended these officers involved in kidnapping and ransom collection of $3000USDT. Shockingly, they continue to roam freely at the command, jeopardizing our safety and that of the victim. I was explicitly informed that their dismissal is improbable due to their seniority – ASP Doubara Edonyabo, ASP Talent Mungo, and Inspector Odey Michael,” he posted on X.

The Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, could not be immediately reached for comment. However, in a statement released on January 22, Iringe-Koko acknowledged that the officers involved were facing disciplinary actions for violating both the law and the ethical standards of the police force.

“The two officers have been issued official queries, and the inspector is scheduled for an orderly room trial. In a commitment to transparency and accountability, the Rivers State Police Command has decided to publicly parade the officers before the press to emphasize the seriousness with which we view this matter,” she stated.

This incident is not an isolated case, as a similar misconduct involving Rivers State policemen was reported in December. Four operatives were allegedly involved in the abduction of a hotel worker in Port Harcourt, the state capital, and were subsequently arrested after the matter was reported to the Divisional Police Officer.
