His proposal aims to address the devaluation of the Naira against the US Dollar. In a widely circulated video, Isaac suggests that the President should issue a directive stipulating that any account exceeding $1500 be converted to the Nigerian currency.
In the video, Isaac emphatically states, “You have to be firm; do not consider anyone’s sentiments. To bring down the value of the Dollar, simply appear on television and announce that any domiciliary account holding more than $1500 will be confiscated, auctioned, or substituted with Naira.”
He further emphasizes the need for decisive action, asserting that even his own funds and those of other former governors should be auctioned. Isaac advocates a policy where any individual holding Dollars should have them auctioned and replaced with Naira, discouraging the storage of foreign currencies within the country.
Isaac concludes his message by advising, “Don’t hoard Dollars here. If you want to hold Dollars, do so in America. If you prefer Pounds, keep them in London.
