Represented by Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal, Makinde remarked on Ariwoola’s impressive judicial career, noting his ascent from the High Court to the Supreme Court and ultimately to Chief Justice. He stated, “To achieve this trajectory in the judiciary is a true privilege that reflects integrity and good character. His retirement is a joyous occasion for us.”

Makinde emphasized that Ariwoola is the only Chief Justice from Oyo State in recent memory, marking his retirement as a significant milestone. He highlighted the attendance of numerous Supreme Court Justices as a testament to Ariwoola’s exemplary performance.

“It is a moment of joy for the state, the Ariwoola family, and the judiciary as a whole,” he added.

Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, the current Chief Justice of Nigeria, praised Ariwoola’s leadership and positive influence on the judiciary. Meanwhile, Ashiru Kolawole, the National Missioner of the Istjabah group, encouraged Ariwoola to express gratitude for his successful tenure and urged him to remain devoted to his faith.

Born on August 22, 1954, Ariwoola was appointed CJN on June 27, 2022, after the resignation of his predecessor, Tanko Muhammed. He was formally confirmed as the 22nd CJN by the Senate on September 21, 2022, and retired on August 22, 2024, upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70.
