According to a statement released on Thursday, August 15, by the command’s spokesperson, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, Liman collaborated with an accomplice to kidnap the young boy, Kamal Aliyu, by deceiving him into delivering a message to his father, Alhaji Ali Runji.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) detailed that Kamal was then taken into a nearby forest, where he was brutally murdered, and his body was buried in a shallow grave.

During interrogation, Liman confessed that they had demanded a ransom of N200,000 from Kamal’s father. However, they were unable to collect the money as planned due to the presence of security personnel near the drop-off point.

The incident began on August 4, 2024, when Kamal was reported missing in Runjin Gani village. The Division Police Officer (DPO) at the Toro Police Divisional headquarters immediately initiated a search and rescue operation.

On August 15, 2024, acting on reliable intelligence, the DPO arrested Ibrahim Mohamed Liman, a 23-year-old resident of the same community and a close neighbor of the victim’s family. Liman admitted to conspiring with an unidentified accomplice to kidnap Kamal under the guise of delivering a message to his father.

He further confessed to leading the child into the forest, where they killed him and buried his body in a shallow grave. Liman also revealed that although they had demanded a ransom of two hundred thousand Naira, they could not retrieve the money because security forces were present in the vicinity.
