A report published on Sunday by the Daily Post cited a statement from the Nigerian Army detailing the joint operations. The efforts led to the deactivation of 14 boats used for criminal activities, the arrest of 15 suspected oil thieves, and the recovery of over 60,000 liters of stolen petroleum products.

In Rivers State, troops targeted illegal refining sites in the Bille area of Degema Local Government Area, confiscating over 20,000 liters of stolen crude oil and destroying two wooden boats. Similar operations along the Imo River led to the deactivation of 10 illegal refining sites, with over 19,000 liters of stolen products recovered.

In Etche Local Government Area, three boats carrying more than 12,000 liters of stolen crude oil were intercepted, resulting in the arrest of three suspects. At Nkisa in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA, troops uncovered a refining site with a reservoir containing over 1,200 liters of illegally refined oil and sacks holding an additional 1,600 liters of crude.

Other operations in Buguma, Asari-Toru LGA, dismantled two illegal refining sites and intercepted a wooden boat carrying 1,500 liters of stolen crude. Five suspects were apprehended and handed over to relevant agencies for prosecution.
