Bello had taken legal action against the senator over comments she made during an interview on ARISE Television’s The Morning Show, alleging defamation of character. In a Certified True Copy of the judgment delivered on April 23 in Lokoja, Justice A. S. Ibrahim ruled in favour of the claimant after considering the evidence presented, stating that the case was resolved based on the balance of probabilities.
Delivering judgment in suit number HCL/16/2023, the court found in favour of Bello on the two issues raised for determination, thereby granting reliefs sought in the case.
However, reacting through her Media Office in Abuja on Saturday, Natasha strongly rejected the ruling, saying the court failed to properly consider the evidence she presented. She maintained that her position was supported by credible material which, in her view, justified her comments.
The senator explained that her statements during the televised interview were a response to earlier accusations, adding that her remarks were made in the public interest and not out of malice. She insisted that if any terrorism-related allegations were to be considered, they should be directed at Bello rather than herself.
Natasha further argued that her comments were based on available information and aimed at promoting accountability in Kogi State. She expressed disagreement with the court’s findings, insisting that the truth was not fully captured in the judgment.
She concluded by confirming that she would be challenging the decision at the Court of Appeal, stressing that the legal battle is not over and that she remains committed to pursuing justice through all lawful means.
