Senate Spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu, has labeled Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s public display of affection with her husband at the National Assembly as “an episode of content creation.

On March 5, the Kogi Central senator arrived at the legislative complex with her husband, Emmanuel Uduaghan. As cameras captured the moment, the couple shared a brief kiss before she proceeded to the plenary to submit a petition accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment.

In his reaction during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Adaramodu expressed his disapproval, calling the public display of affection in front of cameras and journalists “unacceptable.”

“This is bewildering… I was watching all the clips. It’s quite sickening and overwhelmingly pathetic… that this is where we are, and the leadership, especially the first arm of government, the legislature,” he commented.

He further compared the moment to childhood stage performances, saying, “When I saw my colleague and sister Natasha Akpoti entering with a kiss, it made me think back to when we acted in primary school stage plays. Is this where we still are? Very unthinkable and unspeakable.”

When asked if there was anything wrong with Uduaghan accompanying his wife in support, Adaramodu replied, “Solidarity over what? Over internal matters in the Senate? It’s legal, but socially, morally, and politically wrong. Not everything legal is right for adults to do.”

He went on to describe the incident as a “content creation” stunt, adding, “I said initially this is an episode of content creation, and the content has been created. That’s part of the skits being created by our colleague, and now it’s trending.”

This incident comes as the Senate suspended Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months on Thursday, following a report by the committee on ethics, privileges, and public petitions. The suspension is linked to her confrontation with Akpabio over seating arrangements.
