NCAA Suspends Three Nigerian Private Jet Operators Amid Regulatory Concerns....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has taken action against three private jet operators, suspending their permits due to alleged involvement in commercial flight operations. Chris Najomo, the Acting Director General of NCAA, delivered this announcement on Tuesday during a comprehensive briefing to all airlines.

This decision follows a directive issued by Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development in 2023, instructing the cessation of private jet usage for commercial purposes, as outlined by the NCAA. Despite this directive, Najomo stated that the operators persisted in engaging in commercial activities.

In March 2024, NCAA had issued a stern warning to holders of the Private Non-commercial Flight (PNCF) permit against carrying passengers, cargo, or mail for hire and reward. As part of increased surveillance, NCAA officials monitored private jet activities at terminals across Nigerian airports, leading to the discovery of three operators violating PNCF annexure provisions and Part 9114 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023.

In adherence to their zero-tolerance policy for regulatory violations, NCAA suspended the PNCF of these operators. The regulatory body has mandated a reassessment of all non-commercial flight permit holders, with a deadline set for April 19, 2024, for submission of relevant documents.

Additionally, the directive extends to existing Air Operator Certificate (AOC) holders utilizing aircraft listed on their PNCF for commercial charter operations. Only aircraft listed in the AOC’s Operation Specifications are authorized for charter services. AOC holders wishing to use aircraft for charter operations must apply to delist affected aircraft from PNCF and include them in AOC operations specifications.

NCAA emphasized that the traveling public should only patronize airline charter operators holding a valid Air Operator Certificate issued by the regulatory body.
