The top performer was identified as Okeke Chinedu Christian from Anambra State, according to JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, who made the announcement during the 2025 Policy Meeting in Abuja.

Okeke selected the University of Lagos as his first-choice institution and intends to study Mechanical Engineering.

Coming in second place was Ayuba Simon-Peter John from Gombe State, who scored 374. He chose Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) to study Mechanical Engineering as well.

In third place was Jimoh Abdulmalik Olayinka from Kwara State, who scored 373 and also applied to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Lagos.

Meanwhile, JAMB reaffirmed that the minimum age for admission into Nigeria’s tertiary institutions remains 16 years. This was reiterated during the same Policy Meeting held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, where key stakeholders from universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education convened to review guidelines for the upcoming academic session.

JAMB emphasized that the age requirement is strictly enforced through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) and even allows for candidates who will turn 16 by August 31, 2025.
