The Nigerian Army has apprehended the mastermind behind a deadly assault on Mararaban Azagawa village in Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State. According to Lt. Olubondunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of Information for 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE, troops conducted a successful operation resulting in the capture of the terrorist leader responsible for the attack. The incident, which occurred on June 16, 2024, led to the tragic loss of five lives and multiple injuries.

In response to the attack, troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Bali initiated a targeted operation to apprehend the perpetrators. Acting on reliable intelligence, they successfully arrested Hassan Ibrahim, alias Godu, aged 39. Items recovered during his capture included a Dane Gun, cartridges, and a motorcycle belonging to one of the victims.

Hassan Ibrahim has confessed to his role in the crime and is cooperating with authorities, providing valuable information. He remains in custody as efforts continue to locate his accomplices. Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commander of 6 Brigade Sector 3 OPWS, commended the public for their assistance in identifying the suspect and encouraged ongoing support for the Army’s efforts to combat criminal activities in Taraba State.
