In a statement from the NCS’ National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, it was revealed that Balogun hails from the Odo-Otin Local Government Area in Osun State, though she was born in Kaduna. She began her career with the NCS in 2002 as a customs assistant.

Maiwada also shared that Balogun previously served as a cabin crew member in the Customs’ air wing unit. However, driven by determination and ambition, she went on to earn her pilot’s license, defying expectations.

Balogun reflected on her journey, noting the challenges she faced and her decision to pursue public service over the more financially rewarding options within the airline industry. “It was a tough decision, but my goal was to contribute to public service and fulfill my dream of becoming a pilot,” she shared.

Her professional achievements include earning an advanced diploma in Air Ticketing and Cabin Services, a master’s degree in Public Administration from Ahmadu Bello University, and her pilot certification from the Flying Academy in Miami, Florida—sponsored by the NCS.

Balogun expressed pride in her accomplishment and its broader significance, saying, “Becoming the first female pilot in the NCS Air Wing reflects my commitment to both my personal dreams and the operational growth of the NCS.” She encouraged young Nigerians, especially women, to relentlessly pursue their ambitions and never give up on their dreams.

This achievement not only highlights Balogun’s perseverance but also serves as an inspiration to women within the industry and society at large.
