Nigerian Government Witness Acknowledges Emefiele Did Not Personally Gain From Corruption....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Michael Agboro, a key witness for the Federal Government in the corruption trial of former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Godwin Emefiele, made a significant admission at a Federal Capital Territory High Court. Agboro stated that Emefiele did not grant any unjust, corrupt advantage to himself in the process of awarding contracts to certain companies during his tenure at the apex bank.
Emefiele faces amended charges totaling 20 counts, filed by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), including criminal breach of trust, forgery, conspiracy to obtain by false pretense, and obtaining money by false pretense during his tenure as CBN governor. One of the accusations involves Emefiele allegedly forging a document related to foreign election observer missions and using his position to confer unfair advantages on April 1616 Nigeria Ltd and Architekon Nigeria Ltd.
During the recent court proceedings, the government’s 7th prosecution witness, Agboro, an investigator from the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC), presented various documents, such as company registration papers, contract awards, and payment records related to the implicated companies. Agboro argued that Emefiele had provided unjust advantages to April 1616 and Archtekon, pointing out that a director of April 1616 was a CBN public officer, while Emefiele’s wife and brother-in-law held positions in Architekon.
However, under cross-examination by Emefiele’s lawyer, Mathew Burkaa, Agboro clarified that the accused did not confer any corrupt advantage on himself. Instead, Agboro stated that the advantages were directed towards Saadatu Ramalan Yaro, a public officer working under Emefiele, as well as his wife and brother-in-law. This admission may have significant implications for the ongoing trial.
