The handover took place at the company’s plant in Ajah, Lagos State, with a team comprising officials from the Ministry of Finance and representatives from the Presidential Initiative for Compressed Natural Gas (P-CNGi) present.

Dimas Hamidu, Technical Assistant to the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, praised the quality of the Jet Mover vehicles and commended the company for its work. He highlighted that these hybrid buses are a testament to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to mitigating the challenges arising from the removal of the fuel subsidy.

Hamidu noted that the new vehicles would significantly address transportation needs and help mitigate the impact of rising costs on citizens. He expressed satisfaction with the quality of the buses and the company’s adherence to contract terms.

He also mentioned that the federal government had contracted various companies to supply CNG vehicles and addressed public concerns about their visibility. “The ministry of finance decided to visit the factories to ensure timely delivery, and we are pleased with Jet Motor’s adherence to specifications,” Hamidu said.

Derek Ewelukwa, Managing Director of Jet Motor Company, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the country’s transportation sector. He detailed that each hybrid bus is equipped with two CNG tanks, each with a combined capacity of 220 liters, allowing for a range of 300 kilometers, alongside an 80-liter petrol tank. The CNG tanks have a 15-year lifespan, and the vehicle’s engine can switch between gas and petrol seamlessly.

The Finance Ministry team included Balarabe Tukui, representing the Director of Finance and Accounts; Okeke Osita Gabriel, Technical Assistant to the Minister of Finance; and Mr. Suleman, representing the Director of Legal Services, with Oluwole Akinwunmi representing Pi-CNG.
