Addressing the inmates, Archbishop Okeke encouraged them to use their time in prison productively by engaging in skill acquisition programs. He stressed the importance of learning trades that would enable them to reintegrate into society as responsible and skilled individuals. The archbishop highlighted the establishment of a state-of-the-art skill acquisition center within the correctional facility, equipped to provide inmates with the opportunity to learn various trades of their choice.

He reminded the inmates that adherence to God’s will and seeking His guidance would empower them to overcome challenges, emphasizing that a commitment to righteousness would protect them. Archbishop Okeke urged the inmates to be a positive influence in the world, asserting that dedication to the will of God would ensure their survival through life’s difficulties.

In response to the archbishop’s efforts, Joseph Usifo, the state Comptroller of the Nigerian Correctional Service, commended Archbishop Okeke for his significant contributions. Usifo highlighted the Archbishop’s donation of a multi-million-naira skill acquisition center, describing it as a groundbreaking initiative that sets a precedent for correctional centers across Nigeria. The facility now enables inmates in Onitsha to acquire skills such as computer proficiency, tailoring, and barbering, fostering rehabilitation and creating a conducive environment for personal development during their time in the correctional center.
