Oba Balogun emphasized the necessity of a coordinated effort between the traditional institution and the police to successfully combat the menace of land grabbing. Speaking through his representative, Senator Kola Balogun, he stressed the importance of synergy in the ongoing fight against land grabbing.
The monarch expressed his unwavering commitment to eradicating land grabbing and highlighted his desire for a positive change in Ibadan’s reputation concerning this issue.
He further disclosed that mechanisms were already in place to discipline any of his Baales or Mogajis involved in dubious land deals.
Senator Kola Balogun stated, “I am determined to remove the negative image of Ibadan associated with land grabbing. Individuals wishing to own land in Ibadan should be able to do so without any hindrance.
We have established a code of conduct, and any Baale or Mogaji found engaging in questionable land transactions will be relieved of their position. I seek your cooperation as law enforcement officers.”
In response, Commissioner Hamzat assured the Olubadan of the police command’s commitment to collaborating with the traditional institution, aligning with the priorities raised.
He highlighted that land grabbing had been a topic of discussion with the state governor, Seyi Makinde, immediately upon his arrival in the state.
