Oluwo’s Ex-Wife Speaks Out: Lagos Monarch Linked Me To Ooni, Not A Murder Plot
The estranged wife of the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, Chanel Chin, has refuted claims that she conspired with the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, to assassinate the monarch.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Oluwo had accused the Ooni of introducing him to Chin and alleged that during their three-year marriage, she and the Ooni plotted to poison him and stage multiple assassination attempts.
Reacting via an Instagram statement on Friday, Chin dismissed the allegations as false, misleading, and harmful to the dignity of the Yoruba traditional institution.
She clarified that she was introduced to the Oluwo by another respected monarch in Lagos, not by the Ooni of Ife.
Her statement read:
“My attention has been drawn to recent allegations in the media involving His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife. I categorically declare that these claims are false, misleading, and damaging to our revered Yoruba traditional institution.
“For the record, I was introduced to Mr. Akanbi by a respected Lagos monarch, not the Ooni of Ife. During my time as Olori Oluwo, I regarded this Lagos monarch as a father figure and still do with utmost respect. At no point was I introduced to Mr. Akanbi with any malicious intent.
“I fondly remember visiting this monarch and his Olori in Lagos with Mr. Akanbi and our son, Prince Oduduwa—memories I still cherish.”
Chin further accused the Oluwo of being an absentee father, noting that he only reconnected with their son in August this year after over five years of neglect.
“Mr. Akanbi has been absent from Prince Oduduwa’s life for more than five years. He only resurfaced in Canada this August, refused to sign his passport papers, and instead dropped $500—the very first financial support he has ever given our son since we left the palace,” she revealed.
According to her, she has carried the responsibility of raising their son alone while advocating peaceful co-parenting.
She urged the public to disregard false claims against the Ooni and called on traditional leaders to caution the Oluwo against further desecrating the sacred throne.
“This shall be my final statement on the matter. Prince Oduduwa remains my beloved son, and I continue to hold the Yoruba people in deep love and respect,” she concluded.
