Onoh Explodes: Insecurity Proves Why Atiku Can Never Lead Nigeria

Josef Umunnakwe Onoh, former Southeast campaign spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu, has accused ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar of politicizing the tragic loss of innocent lives in Nigeria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Onoh’s remarks followed Atiku’s criticism of the Tinubu administration’s response to the recent killings in Benue State. Atiku had accused the President of showing troubling indifference to Nigeria’s escalating insecurity and criticized his continued stay in Europe during a time of national distress.

Responding in a statement on Monday, April 21, 2025, Onoh condemned Atiku’s remarks, describing them as a desperate attempt to score political points off the back of national tragedy. He said Atiku was exploiting the blood of terrorism victims to boost his repeatedly failed presidential ambitions.

According to Onoh, the key difference between Tinubu’s and Atiku’s approach to national issues lies in the latter’s pride, self-interest, and ego, which have distorted his sense of purpose. He argued that as a statesman and member of the opposition, Atiku ought to contribute constructively to national unity and offer meaningful solutions to security challenges, yet he has done neither.

Onoh pointed out that during a national security crisis in 2018, Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, donated 150 fully equipped operational vehicles to the Nigerian Police, and Dangote Cement also donated 25 security vehicles to Ogun State’s security trust fund as part of its corporate social responsibility.

He challenged Atiku to cite any personal or institutional contribution he has made toward security in his home state of Adamawa, stating that neither Atiku nor his affiliated institutions had shown any commitment in this regard.

Onoh further said, “Charity, they say, begins at home. While Adamawa’s state government has procured 25 new Innoson pickup trucks for local security agencies, Atiku—the so-called adopted son of the state—has failed to offer any form of support, exposing his hypocritical stance.”

He recalled that during his six-day trip to China, President Tinubu canceled a planned U.S. visit and rerouted his flight to Nigeria, where he immediately visited Borno State to sympathize with victims of a major flood disaster, showcasing genuine empathy and national commitment.
