Amidst the worsening impact of fuel subsidy removal on citizens, Pastor Tunde Bakare, overseeing the Citadel Global Community Church (formerly the Latter Rain Church), has directed his appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In his message, he called on the President to confront the issue of entrenched corruption within the country’s fuel subsidy system, rather than enforcing “anti-people” economic policies that are burdening the Nigerian population.
Speaking passionately from his church auditorium in Ikeja, Lagos, on Sunday, Bakare addressed the theme “Vice, Virtue, and Time: The Three Unwavering Factors….CONTINUE READING
” He highlighted the immense suffering and distress that the Nigerian populace has been grappling with since the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government.
Bakare remained hopeful that divine intervention would follow his state-of-the-nation broadcast. He stated, “We are obligated to share what the Lord has communicated to us and the revelations we have received.
After this state-of-the-nation broadcast, you will witness God’s intervention in our nation. This day will signify the moment when God intervened in Nigeria’s destiny.”
Focusing on the hardships arising from the elimination of fuel subsidy and its harsh economic consequences, Bakare urged President Tinubu to combat corrupt practices within the government rather than imposing financial burdens on Nigerians.
“Mr. President, combat corruption, not the Nigerian people. No economy can flourish amidst lawlessness,” Bakare passionately expressed.
While expressing his disapproval of the notion of engaging in conflict with Niger Republic, Bakare cautioned, “The support for Nigeria from Nigeriens is at an all-time low. Thus, engaging in warfare is counterproductive.
As we denounce the coup d’état in West Africa, we must acknowledge the urgent need for introspection among African leaders.”
He further called upon Nigeria to exhibit strong leadership during this critical time. Reflecting on President Tinubu’s capacity to provide ethical leadership, Bakare posed the question of whether he could effectively lead even within a domestic context.
