PFIPC Controversy: Sources Reveal Adeyemi Was Fired Just Four Months After Joining Adeleke’s Administration
Fresh controversy has emerged around Prince Matthew Adeniyi Adeyemi, the man accused of operating the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), following claims that he previously served in the administration of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke before being dismissed after only a few months over alleged misconduct.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Adeyemi, who identifies himself as the Director-General of the disputed PFIPC, has been accused by the Presidency of running a non-existent Federal Government agency and falsely claiming that his appointment was linked to the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila.
The Presidency has distanced itself from Adeyemi, insisting it has no affiliation with him and stressing that security agencies should uncover the network that allegedly enabled his activities.
Sources familiar with the matter said investigations into Adeyemi and the operations of the disputed council are expected to continue this week as authorities seek to determine how he allegedly gained access to government institutions and senior officials.
According to the sources, dismantling the network believed to have facilitated his activities has become a key priority for investigators.
The Nation reported, citing anonymous government sources, that Adeyemi briefly served as Senior Special Assistant on Protocol to Governor Adeleke in 2023.
One senior government official alleged that Adeyemi was responsible for processing visas and travel documentation for the governor and other state officials before his appointment was terminated roughly four months later over allegations of improper conduct.
The source claimed Adeyemi came under scrutiny after the French Embassy reportedly contacted the Osun State Government to verify correspondence the state government said it had never sent.
According to the source, an internal investigation allegedly found that Adeyemi had written to the embassy without authorization and forged the signatures of Governor Adeleke and other officials in pursuit of what was described as fraudulent objectives.
The source further alleged that the matter was reported to the governor and the Chief of Staff, after which the Secretary to the State Government was instructed to terminate Adeyemi’s appointment. The official also claimed Adeleke opted against pursuing criminal charges at the time to avoid distracting his administration.
The Presidency has consistently maintained that neither Adeyemi nor the PFIPC is recognized by the Federal Government, insisting that no such agency exists under the Tinubu administration.
Adeyemi, however, has denied all allegations, insisting that his appointment was legitimate. He has also accused Gbajabiamila of corruption, claims the Presidency has rejected.
