Plateau Police’s Warning: Hands Off Jos Appeal Court Complex, Protesters Told

This warning was prompted by an alleged demonstration by supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
near Maraban Jama’a and All Airport Junction, expressing their dissatisfaction with the Appeal Court’s decisions that unseated all PDP lawmakers in the National Assembly from Plateau.
In a statement released on Thursday, the police spokesperson, DSP Alabo Alfred, condemned the actions of the PDP supporters and made it clear that they would not tolerate any unlawful protests within the state.
According to Alabo, the Commissioner of Police has advised the public to maintain peace and carry on with their lawful activities.
He stated, “The police commissioner has observed with dismay the manner in which a misguided group of individuals gathered and unlawfully obstructed the public highway around Old Airport junction.
Mararaban Jama’a, and even attempted to set fire to the Court of Appeal structure in Jos in the name of protesting against the Court of Appeal’s judgment regarding the Senatorial/House of Representatives elections delivered on Wednesday.
“To maintain peace, law, and order in the state, the Commissioner of Police has cautioned individuals or groups of people engaged in protests under any pretext, whose actions could disrupt the current peace in the state, to refrain from such actions.
Otherwise, the police command will not hesitate to take resolute action against those responsible in accordance with the existing laws.”
