Adejobi emphasized the distinction between peaceful protests and riots, noting that while some states have seen orderly demonstrations, others have experienced violent disturbances. He stressed that arrests were made specifically for riotous and criminal behavior, not for participating in peaceful protests.

He explained that peaceful protests have been occurring in several states with engagement from security agencies and local officials. However, in areas where riots and violence have taken place, such as certain parts of Abuja, the police have acted to protect public and private property.

The spokesperson clarified that the police presence is intended to safeguard national assets and ensure compliance with court orders, such as the restriction of protests to the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. He rejected claims that police were targeting journalists and reiterated that the focus has been on addressing criminal activities, including armed robbery, homicide, and property damage.

Adejobi also reported the arrest of 873 individuals for various criminal offenses and dismissed any notion that these arrests pertain to peaceful protesters. Additionally, he disclosed the detention of individuals for treasonable felonies related to the display of foreign flags during the protests. For instance, Ahmed Tailor was arrested in Kano State for distributing Russian flags, and similar arrests have occurred in Kaduna.
