Police Detain Five Suspects In Child Trafficking Case, Save Infant

According to a statement from the command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the operation was triggered by a report from the distressed mother of the kidnapped infant. She reported that Gloria Sunday had abducted her son on July 11, 2024.
Hundeyin’s statement revealed that Gloria Sunday was arrested and confessed to selling the baby for ₦500,000 to Pastor Peter Udoh. Pastor Udoh was later apprehended in Ikene Town, Ogun State, and admitted to reselling the child for ₦1,450,000 to Loretta Nelson, who was then arrested in Festac Town, Lagos.
Nelson confessed to selling the baby for ₦2,350,000 to Mr. and Mrs. James Uwam, who were arrested during a naming ceremony for the infant.
All suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged in court once the investigation is complete.
In related news, PUNCH Online reports that the Nigerian Immigration Service, Lagos Border Patrol Command, Seme, Badagry, recently rescued a six-month-old baby and three other suspected trafficking victims. Additionally, in May, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command arrested Kulu Dogonyaro and Elizabeth Ojah for attempted child trafficking and rescued five minors involved in the case.
