The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has announced that his party is open to forming alliances with other political groups ahead of the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Kwankwaso, who recently turned 69, described the upcoming 2027 polls as “tough and competitive,” noting that the NNPP is willing to collaborate with any party—including the All Progressives Congress (APC)—as long as such partnerships prioritize the welfare of Nigerians and respect his party’s nationwide political structures.

Speaking in an interview with BBC Hausa, the former Kano State governor emphasized that any merger or alliance must clearly define the benefits for the NNPP.

“If you are asking us to join the APC, you must tell us what the NNPP stands to gain. We have gubernatorial candidates across all states and strong structures nationwide. What will you offer them if we join?” Kwankwaso questioned.

He made these remarks while receiving Buhari Bakwana, a former political adviser to ex-Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, along with APC members from Kano’s 44 local government areas, at his Miller Road residence in Kano.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has in recent months referred to Kwankwaso as a “friend and ally within the progressive fold,” following a series of private meetings between the two over the past two years.

However, Kwankwaso clarified that any alliance decision would be based solely on shared values and competence.

He stated, “We are ready to work with anyone—APC, PDP, ADC, Jonathan, or Peter Obi—if we are convinced of their capacity and integrity. Our priority is competence and commitment to the needs of Nigerians. If they fail to meet our expectations, we will not continue with them.

“What we want is for ordinary Nigerians to benefit—to see freedom, quality education for the youth, and improved security. People are being killed daily in Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, parts of Kaduna, and other states, while the elites have fled to Abuja to live in luxury. Many of them—lawmakers, ministers, and other officials—only care about enriching themselves, buying mansions, and driving luxury cars. They act untouchable, but I believe God will judge them.”

Kwankwaso further predicted that the 2027 general elections would be one of the most competitive in Nigeria’s history, as citizens are now more politically aware and eager for change.

“I believe the 2027 elections will be far tougher,” he said. “Nigerians are now more informed and concerned about the country’s direction. With the help of radio and social media, people are seeking better lives for themselves and their families. This time, voters will not sell their votes for money. We may witness unprecedented events in Nigeria’s electoral history.”
