In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by the APC National Vice-Chairman for the South-East, Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, the party reaffirmed that Uzodimma remains committed to good governance, sustainable development and improved welfare for the people of Imo State.
The party linked the allegations to what it described as political blackmail allegedly arising after reports that the governor is interested in contesting the Imo East senatorial seat in 2027.
It maintained that the accusations were aimed at distracting the governor, insisting that he would not be swayed by what it called baseless claims.
According to the statement, while citizens are entitled to their opinions, such freedoms should not be used to malign individuals pursuing their constitutional political rights.
The APC further rejected claims that ₦800 billion was diverted from contributions made by members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign, describing the allegation as both “factually incorrect and logically impossible.”
It explained that no official presidential campaign structure or fund collection has been established, noting that electioneering activities are still restricted by law until September.
The party also clarified that the Progressive Governors’ Forum is not a campaign body and therefore does not manage or store campaign funds.
Responding to the figures cited in the allegation, the APC said the claim was unrealistic, arguing that it would imply each of the 31 APC governors contributed about ₦26 billion, which it described as implausible.
It maintained that no governor would commit such an amount while still managing state-level political and governance responsibilities.
The party insisted that Uzodimma has maintained a record of transparency and has not been linked to any financial misconduct.
It urged political actors to avoid spreading what it called fabricated narratives and instead focus on issue-based engagement and credible policy discussions.
“Nigerians are discerning enough to distinguish between genuine governance issues and politically motivated fiction,” the statement added.
