The 8-minute clip, which was shared on by the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Segun Dada, alleged that Tinubu had embraced Christianity during a church gathering.

However, Dada rejected the claim, describing the video as completely false and misleading, and stressing that the President has not changed his religion.

He reiterated that President Tinubu remains a Muslim, while also acknowledging and respecting his wife’s role as a Christian pastor. According to him, the President’s family reflects interfaith harmony, which he said aligns with Tinubu’s broader message of national unity.

Dada added that what the President represents is religious tolerance and coexistence, not conversion or division.

In a related development, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar criticised the Tinubu administration over its recent comments on Nigeria’s debt profile, accusing the government of being disconnected from the economic hardships faced by citizens.

In a statement issued through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said the government’s celebration of debt statistics was insensitive given the worsening economic and security situation in the country.

He further argued that the rising insecurity has made ransom payments a routine burden for many Nigerian families, comparing it to basic household expenses such as rent and school fees.

Atiku made the remarks in response to the Presidency’s assertion that Nigeria’s borrowing level compares favourably with some other African countries, insisting that such comparisons do not reflect the daily struggles of ordinary Nigerians.
