Presidency Slams Datti Baba-Ahmed: ‘If You’re Smart, Stay Quiet And Exit Politics
The Presidency has fired back at the Labour Party’s 2023 vice presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, over his remarks about President Bola Tinubu’s political future.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Datti, during an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time political programme on Friday, stated that if Tinubu were a smart politician, he wouldn’t seek re-election in 2027. He boldly claimed that the President’s time was up and asserted that both Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would be defeated in the next general election.
In a swift response, Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, described Datti’s comments as baseless, irrational, and lacking in substance.
Taking to (formerly Twitter), Dare ridiculed Datti, likening listening to him to enduring torture. He branded both Datti and LP presidential candidate Peter Obi as a “double whammy” in the nation’s political landscape.
According to Dare, Datti’s assumptions about Tinubu’s inability to win a second term were detached from reality and ignored the President’s notable achievements and ongoing economic reforms.
He wrote:
“Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed’s ‘illogical logic’ was on full display during his recent TV interview. His arguments were incoherent, devoid of reason, and completely empty. One would think he dropped from space, judging by the nonsense he spewed.
“Listening to Datti talk about Nigeria’s political future—and that of President Tinubu—is like listening to one of those new year predictions from fake prophets that never come true. He and Peter Obi form a political double whammy that offers nothing but noise.
“If Peter Obi interviews feel like punishment, then enduring Baba-Ahmed’s is pure torment. His political reasoning wouldn’t pass a first-year political science class. His projections, built on Tinubu’s so-called antecedents, completely sidestepped the President’s proven performance and leadership capacity.
“Sadly, Datti has wandered into territory far beyond his depth, taking shots at a political figure he simply cannot match. If all it took was theory, he and his fellow presidential dreamers would have been in power by now. But politics isn’t for armchair theorists—it’s for the bold, the visionary, and the accomplished. Qualities he sorely lacks.”
