President Bola Tinubu has given his nod for the extension of Dr. Vincent Isegbe’s tenure as the Director-General of the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS), as reported by Naija News. This re-appointment secures Dr. Isegbe in the role for an additional five years, according to a statement released on Thursday by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity.
The President’s decision, outlined by Ngelale, is rooted in the expectation that Dr. Isegbe will continue to enhance the NAQS’s recent achievements. Notably, the service ranked among the top three agencies of the Federal Government of Nigeria in the efficiency and transparency index by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).
In a parallel development, President Tinubu has also sanctioned the reconstitution of the Board of the Nigeria Electricity Liability Management Company (NELMCO), as disclosed in another statement by Ajuri Ngelale. The restructuring involves a modification to the NELMCO Board structure, transferring the Board Chairmanship from the Office of the Minister of Finance to the Office of the Minister of Power. This shift is aligned with NELMCO’s pivotal role in the operation of the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).
Ngelale emphasized that President Tinubu anticipates the new structure and composition of the NELMCO Board will expedite measurable progress in managing post-privatization liabilities within the power sector. The overarching goal is to create conditions conducive to achieving world-class standards of operational efficiency across all facets of the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry (NESI), aligning with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
