Expressing concern over the detrimental impact of religion on humanity, Primate Ayodele announced intentions to construct a multi-million naira mosque in Lagos State. He clarified that this initiative is not driven by self-aggrandizement but aims to foster an environment that transcends religious distinctions, embracing a shared human identity.
Primate Ayodele drew inspiration from the teachings of Jesus Christ, highlighting that the central focus of Christ’s message was not religious doctrine but rather a call to humanity. He emphasized the universal aspect of being human, asserting that one’s religious affiliation should not supersede their shared humanity.
Stressing his commitment to promoting coexistence and love for all, Primate Ayodele stated, “I believe co-existing, cohabiting and showing love to everyone is the greatest religion anyone can adopt.” He further detailed extensive consultations with Muslim leaders, obtaining positive responses to his mosque-building initiative. The spiritual leader expressed his intention to construct the mosque and entrust its operation entirely to Muslim leaders, ensuring no external interference.
