Omokri articulated his perspective, contending that Nigeria must take proactive measures to either help restore the rule of law in Niger or consider the possibility of constructing a barrier between the two countries.

He further pointed out that Nigeria possesses a substantial military force compared to the cumulative military personnel of the fourteen other ECOWAS nations.
Sharing his thoughts on Instagram, Omokri stated, “While we fervently pray against war, it doesn’t mean Nigeria should be vulnerable or hesitant to employ its military capacity to champion democracy and uphold the rule of law.
We have a vested interest in the state of affairs in Niger Republic, akin to Russia’s interest in Ukraine and America’s in Cuba.”
He noted the changing global landscape where repercussions from destabilization can affect neighboring countries, as evidenced by the spillover effect of the Libyan crisis on Nigeria through the emergence of Boko Haram.
Omokri stressed that the ramifications of political and economic instability in the Sahel region, specifically Niger, would likely result in an influx of refugees and migrants into Nigeria.
Omokri urged Nigeria to intervene to reestablish the rule of law in Niger, highlighting that Singapore, despite being minimally endowed with natural resources, has achieved remarkable prosperity due to its unwavering commitment to the rule of law.
Considering the options, he outlined, “The choices are either intervening to restore the rule of law in Niger or contemplating the construction of a Trump-style barrier between the two nations.”
Omokri concluded by urging a nuanced understanding of the situation, addressing concerns of Western imperialism by asserting Nigeria’s agency in addressing regional challenges.
