Nwakuche, who had been serving in an acting capacity since his appointment by President Bola Tinubu, was confirmed following a report presented by the Senate Committee on Interior, which had screened him. The committee praised Nwakuche for his exceptional character, vast experience, intellect, and leadership abilities, deeming him well-suited for the role.
Committee Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, highlighted Nwakuche’s academic qualifications, command experience, and extensive training, affirming that no petitions or incriminating reports had been filed against him.
Following the report, Senate President Godswill Akpabio called for a voice vote, and Nwakuche’s nomination was approved.
In related news, the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) confirmed the tragic death of Senior Correctional Assistant (SCA) Shuaibu King David during a jailbreak at the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Koton Karfe, Kogi State. David lost his life while trying to prevent the escape of inmates and protect the facility. The NCoS expressed deep condolences to his family, colleagues, and loved ones, with Acting Controller-General Nwakuche offering his sympathies on behalf of the service.
