On the eve of the New Year, at the Kpadia Royal Square in Toru-Orua, his hometown, the former Bayelsa State Governor led his constituents in fervent praises, expressing gratitude to the Almighty for the mercies bestowed upon them in the past year. Amidst resounding “Amens,” the atmosphere was jubilant as people celebrated and prayed for improved fortunes in the upcoming year.

Senator Dickson, representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, acknowledged the economic challenges, stating, “We need peace and harmony, and the Nigerian spirit of resilience to overcome these situations.”

The festivities continued at The Palace of Melchizedek, Senator Dickson’s chapel, where a choral contest elevated the spirit of thanksgiving. Senator Dickson actively engaged congregants, inviting them to lead songs of their choice. He underscored the importance of caring for fellow human beings, a sentiment reflected in his earlier philanthropic activities where he distributed food items and cash to constituents.

A subsequent service at the Toru-Orua Christian Centre Ark of Refuge and Mercy echoed the same message of gratitude and prayers for divine intervention in the coming year. Senator Dickson, along with the community, praised the Almighty for past blessings and sought new mercies in 2024.

Senator Dickson extended his wishes for a peaceful, prosperous, and healthy 2024 to everyone, emphasizing the need for greater peace, stability, and understanding within families, communities, the state, and across the nation and the world.

Expressing gratitude to friends, well-wishers, women and youth groups, the choir, and clergymen who participated in the services, Senator Dickson conveyed his hope for future fellowship. He has a history of promoting thanksgiving, evident during his tenure as Governor when he signed the Bayelsa State Thanksgiving Day Law in 2012, designating November 2 as a public holiday with official services in the State. Additionally, he built the Ecumenical Centre in Yenagoa, providing a place of worship for various denominations.
