SERAP Takes Akpabio And Nine Former Governors To Court Over Receipt Of Salaries And Pensions.

In a statement released on Sunday, SERAP revealed that the lawsuit, identified as suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/1360/2023, was filed on the previous Friday at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The statement further disclosed, “The senators and minister listed as respondents in the lawsuit are Abdulaziz Yari, Aminu Tambuwal, Adamu Aliero, Adams Oshiomole, Ibrahim Gaidam, Seriake Dickson, Ibrahim Dankwambo, Aliyu Wammako, Gbenga Daniel, and Dave Umahi.”

SERAP is pursuing several objectives through this lawsuit. They are seeking “an order of mandamus to compel and instruct Mr. Akpabio, the other nine senators, and Mr.

Umahi to desist from receiving both salaries and pensions and to return any pensions received to their respective state treasuries.”

Additionally, SERAP is seeking “an order of mandamus to compel and instruct Mr. Akpabio, the other nine senators, and Mr.

Umahi to clarify and disclose whether they have been receiving and/or are presently receiving both salaries and pensions in their capacities as former governors.”

Finally, SERAP is also seeking “an order of mandamus to compel and instruct Mr. Akpabio, the other nine senators, and Mr. Umahi to provide details regarding the pensions they have received thus far, including the specific amounts.”
