The spokesperson to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, has strongly criticised former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Timothy Owoeye, for describing the governor as a “Caretaker Governor.”....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement issued on Monday, May 5, 2025, Rasheed condemned Owoeye’s comment as “deeply offensive and utterly unjustified,” calling for an immediate retraction and public apology. He questioned the reasoning behind labeling a democratically elected and Supreme Court-affirmed governor with such a term.

Rasheed reminded the public that Adeleke’s administration has not only been legitimate but has also delivered significant governance milestones widely acknowledged by Osun citizens.

He said, “It is important to recall that Mr Owoeye personally visited Governor Adeleke during the early days of this administration to have files approved. How then can someone whose files were signed off by the Governor and who received full entitlements now turn around to disparage him?”

The statement went further to suggest that Owoeye’s comments may be borne out of political frustration and the Governor’s rising popularity in Ijesaland, particularly due to landmark projects like the dualisation of the Palace-Brewery junction road.

“Perhaps Mr Owoeye is disoriented by the success of the University of Ilesa, now a reality under Adeleke’s leadership—unlike the unfulfilled promises made during the previous administration,” Rasheed noted.

He also alluded to cultural sentiments, referencing a warning from the revered late Owa of Ijesaland against working against Adeleke’s re-election, as well as the unwavering support Adeleke enjoys from top Ijesa PDP leaders.

“The truth remains that Adeleke’s high-performance rating is driven by tangible results and people-centered policies. Insults and propaganda won’t derail the public’s trust,” Rasheed asserted.

He concluded by stating that Governor Adeleke’s re-election in 2026 is not only expected but already seen as inevitable by both the public and discerning opposition figures.
