Sani expressed surprise, stating that Nigerians had expected the refinery to lower fuel prices, not increase them.
In a post on X, he wrote: “The expectation was that Dangote Refinery will crash the price of petrol; the news that it’s increasing is baffling.”
On Friday, Dangote Petroleum Refinery announced an increase in the price of PMS to N955 per litre at the loading gantry.
Marketers purchasing between 2 million – 4.99 million litres will now buy at N955 per litre, while those buying 5 million litres and above will purchase at N950 per litre.
This represents an increase of N55.5 or 6.17% from the previous N899.50 per litre set in December.
The notice stated: “Kindly be advised that effective from 5:30 PM today, an upward adjustment has been implemented on the gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit.”
Following the announcement, petrol retail prices rose to between N1030 and N1,050 per litre.
