Caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen has brought in fresh faces, such as Gabriel Osho and Victor Collins, while also recalling Umar Sadiq, the Real Sociedad striker, despite his challenges in La Liga.
Ogunmodede acknowledged the impressive performances of players like Tolu Arokodare and Cyriel Dessers at their respective clubs but emphasized that the coaching staff has carefully considered the final roster.
“The head coach has compiled a solid list after discussions with the backroom staff, and we’re confident these players have the skills to represent Nigeria,” Ogunmodede shared with NFF TV.
He also highlighted Osho’s return from injury, and the experienced additions of Sadiq and Collins to the squad. Ogunmodede, who also coaches Remo Stars in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), reiterated the team’s commitment to approaching every match with the mindset of a cup final. “Our goal is to win every game and qualify, focusing on securing maximum points,” he stated.
The Super Eagles are set to face the Cheetahs of Benin Republic next Thursday, followed by a home match against Rwanda on November 14. With 10 points from four matches, Nigeria leads Group D and needs just one point from the final two games to secure a spot in the 2025 tournament in Morocco.
