Supporters Of Yahaya Bello Rally In London, Demand Action From Tinubu Amidst EFCC Concerns
In the United Kingdom on Monday, citizens from Kogi State and across Nigeria, organized under the banner of the “Alliance For Emancipation and True Change,” staged a peaceful protest. Their aim was to voice opposition to the allegations leveled against former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.
The protest targeted the perceived bias of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and urged President Bola Tinubu to ensure the agency remains impartial and free from political influence. Demonstrators expressed concerns over the EFCC’s portrayal of political persecution on the global stage.
They emphasized the need for a fair and transparent legal process, aligned with the principles of the rule of law, and condemned any misuse of the EFCC for political agendas aimed at intimidating opponents.
During the protest, Dr. Shaibu Ojogbane, the Publicity Secretary of the Alliance For Emancipation and True Change, and Chukwunonso Ezeani, the Director of Research & Public Affairs, reiterated the alliance’s support for anti-corruption initiatives while advocating for greater oversight to prevent selective justice and human rights abuses.
Allegations were made that Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello is willing to cooperate with investigations into his tenure as Kogi State Governor, but insists on adherence to the rule of law. The group accused the EFCC of serving the interests of influential figures beyond public scrutiny and called for immediate intervention by President Tinubu to rectify the situation.
They urged swift action to safeguard the government’s reputation and ensure the EFCC operates with integrity and impartiality, avoiding further damage to its credibility.
