Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, made the announcement in a statement on Saturday.
On August 7, 2024, troops stationed at Kambari acted on reliable intelligence about bandits attacking a Fulani settlement in Katlong Village, Karim Lamido Local Government Area. The troops engaged the bandits, who dispersed under heavy fire. One suspect, Yusuf Musa, was apprehended with an AK-47 rifle and 20 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. Additionally, 118 cows were recovered and returned to their owners.
On August 6, 2024, troops received information about bandits heading to Mashingi village market to buy supplies. The troops ambushed the suspects and arrested Yusuf Hassan, Mohammed Mamman, Haruna Illa, and Hammadu Shaibu. The operation also yielded one motorcycle, four mobile phones, and N57,000 in cash.
On August 9, 2024, following a tip-off about suspects assembling large quantities of machetes for criminal activities, troops were dispatched to Magami in Jalingo Local Government Area. There, they arrested Umar Zubair and Isah Abdulahi, seizing 436 machetes, four filling machines, one mobile phone, and various fabrication tools.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, praised the troops for their effective and rapid response, which has contributed to the safety of Taraba State residents.
