A 17-year-old teenager, Ojibe Chukwueze, was discovered deceased under troubling circumstances, allegedly linked to an accusation of theft in the Abijo area of Lagos State’s Epe Local Government Area. According to information obtained by PUNCH Metro, Chukwueze’s body was found by his sister near a roadside, prompting a distressing revelation about his last moments.
It was reported that Chukwueze had returned home from work on the fateful day, grabbed some money, and left. However, he failed to return at the expected time, leading his sister to receive a call from a neighbor informing her of her brother’s lifeless body lying at a nearby bus stop.
Further details emerged suggesting that prior to his demise, Chukwueze had allegedly stolen N100,000 from his employer, as conveyed by the teenager’s master. Subsequently, his sister rushed to the scene only to find his lifeless body with a container of sniper pesticide nearby.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that upon receiving the report, investigators visited the scene. They found foam emanating from Chukwueze’s mouth and nostrils, with the container of sniper retrieved as evidence. Hundeyin disclosed that the body was taken to Epe General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation, as investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death commenced.
In another unfortunate incident reported by PUNCH Metro, a 30-year-old graduate named Nerus Elemamba from the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, allegedly took his own life. His body was discovered hanging in his room in Umuohii, Oboama community, Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State. This tragic event followed his participation in the day’s communal work in the village.
As investigations continue into these distressing occurrences, they serve as reminders of the complexities surrounding mental health and social pressures, prompting deeper societal reflections on support systems and interventions for vulnerable individuals.
