Tensions Rise As Wabara Warns Wike Over Public Remarks
Former Senate President and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Adolphus Wabara, has criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for making what he termed unguarded and disrespectful remarks.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
During a live television interview on Sunday, Wike had taken aim at Wabara while addressing the leadership crisis within the PDP. He remarked, “If that man were my father, I would have disowned him. No wonder President Obasanjo issued a presidential broadcast about corruption during his tenure. That’s the man leading PDP’s Board of Trustees.”
In his response, Wabara expressed disappointment over Wike’s comments, noting that it would be beneath his dignity as a former Number Three Citizen of Nigeria to engage in a public spat. He called on Wike to exercise decorum befitting his position as a federal minister and former governor.
Wabara stated, “It is disgraceful for someone who considers himself a man of honour to speak without decorum. Spewing gibberish like a broken water pipe without a tap is far from a mark of maturity. I would expect a man of his calibre to mind his words and respect the position he occupies.”
The former Senate President distanced himself from allegations of corruption, saying, “I can confidently say I am not corrupt. Nigerians know those who are corrupt. I won’t dignify someone who lacks respect for elders by engaging in an exchange.”
Addressing Wike’s claim about disowning a father, Wabara asked, “For a son to disown his father, the father must have wronged him terribly. Can Wike please tell the world what wrong I have done to him?”
