The Supreme Court Aas Postponed The Hearing Of Kogi State’s Lawsuit Challenging The Legality Of The EFCC And ICPC Laws To October 22 See The Reason WhyThe Supreme Court has postponed the hearing of a case filed by the Kogi State Government against the Federal Government, which challenges the authority of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate state finances. The hearing has been rescheduled for October 22.
Justice Uwani Abba-Aji set the new date after listening to arguments from the Attorneys General of about 15 other states that have joined Kogi in the legal dispute. During the session, the court allowed states like Benue, Niger, Katsina, Oyo, Ondo, Cross River, Enugu, and Jigawa to join the case as co-plaintiffs.
Justice Abba-Aji also dismissed separate originating summonses filed by other states, directing them to consolidate their cases with Kogi State’s original lawsuit, which contests the powers of both the EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).
